Re: Outlander
Aaron my husband hasn't read the books either but he watches it with me. It's his idea to go to Scotland next summer.

I enjoyed much of the season, I must admit. I thought Presitpans was a wonderful episode. Dragonfly in Amber...not so much. I found it talky, and full of characters that seemed dumped on us out of nowhere.

Re: Outlander
Are you talking about Roger. Brianna, Julian Edgar and her husband?
If so than those are 3 (not the bbq'd husband) people who are going to be very important to the story.

Well yeah, maybe in the future but the whole episode felt forced and I was like...who the fck are these guys?
Because it's not like we had millions of characters before they showed up....

That's where the book readers have a bit of an advantage. We were all dying for adult Roger to show up. He was actually shown as a child in the first episode of Season One. Brianna was also long awaited as she is the love child of Jamie and Claire. She was shown in flashback as a child in a few eps. Gillian isn't "new." She was the witch Geillis in the first season, supposedly burned at the stake, and this is her before she goes back in time through the stones.

Yeah and I admit while I follow the show, there's stuff I don't know. I guess I now appreciate how Game of Thrones TV viewers who have never read the books feel. I've always known the general outline of the show because I've read all five published novels. Of course now we're now at the point of the show where the book readers don't know any more than anybody else.
