Hows about a good Irish Drinking Song?

The Minstrel Boy, as sung by The Clancy Brothers

You know a couple of great Irish songs - the Swallowtail Jig, and the Londonderry Air. I don't know who does them, but they're fantastic, and such great rhythms. The Swallowtail Jig is especially good, you just can't help feeling the music in it.

Smoke On The Water - Deep Purple (This version features my favorite vocalist, Bruce Dickinson, along with Tony Iommi, the boys from Queen and everyone else in the world... yikes everyone was on this cover.)

Bon Scott was SO underrated, and he did great rock'n'roll, but he did some ballads that are amazing. He wasn't even the first choice for lead singer for ACDC, I think there were a couple of others before Bon replaced Dave Evans, who the band thought was too "glammy" for their image. But "Ride On" and "It Ain't No Fun (waitin round to be a millionaire)", are great ballads, that you just don't hear unless you buy the albums they're on. His death was just a tragic loss, and may not have been alcohol related that much anyway - he fell asleep in a car that may have been running cause it was so cold that morning, and he was asthmatic too. He must have been nearly impossible to follow, but the band did it anyway by releasing Back in Black 4 months after he died, with Brian Johnson replacing him as lead singer. I was lucky enough to see them shortly after that, on a whim when they passed through LA, and of course it was a great show. I mean, who can wear knickers like Angus Young?

Hey, great video of Smoke on the Water, too!
